MASSIVE BONE * WIDE CHESTED * HUGE CENTER BODY

We lead off with a PREMIER BERK FEMALE. It only takes a few seconds for visitors to find 3-1. “Standout,” “who’s that,” and “wow” are words we hear people say when they see 3-1. She is heavy, heavy boned, big backed, and powers coming at you with big blades and a busted open chest. The amount of width, depth and center body she has is second to none. We love her stout and boxy look. She motors freely and carriers this amount of mass with a long active stride. This girl has us excited and we think she can be a real player — you pick the stage. Her momma was Reserve Champion Berk Gilt, 2014 White County Fair (IN) and 2nd in Class to Grand Champion at the 2014 Iowa State Fair. Neon Cowboy was 2nd in Class at the 2014 STC.

COOL FRONTED * BALANCE * FLEXIBILITY

Miss Magic 1-1 is ONE CLASSY GILT. She is the flashy type with her cool-looking head and neck. She profiles extremely well–tall-fronted, level top, and a booty that all fits together. She is sound and motors well with excellent stride length. We read her to be a bit later maturing in her development, but she is going to be one pretty, powerful, and balanced gilt as she pushes 300 lbs. She is out of one of our key generating sows (a Gary Coleman on King Indy’s mom) who generated a 1st in Class Gilt at 2013 STC and a 2nd in Class Boar at the 2014 Iowa State Fair. If she is anything like her mom and grandma, she will be the kind of sow you will want to put in your herd.

WIDE & SQUARE * POWER * ELITE DESIGN

Double-take! Look again! Yes, this is a Berk and she is ONE FLASHY GILT. This gilt is similar to her littermate sister -1 who sold for $1100 in our previous sale. She hits us with a powerful and cocky look. We love her anvil head and high head carriage. She is tall fronted, jet level and motors freely with power and base width from chest to hocks. Study her hip, study her balance, study her power. She has wide-spread toes, correct on her feet and legs, and loves to drive. She is going to be absolutely fun to show! She will also have tremendous breeding value as she is out of one of best new females and a pedigree with some great female sires (Venom x Gary Coleman x Walk The Dog). Neon Cowboy stamped out a consistent litter of 7 gilts and 1 barrow. As an added bonus, be sure to check out her raccoon face in the video.

TALL-FRONTED * JERK NECK * HEAVY BONED

Snap! Snap! Snap! No that was not our backs popping after taking pics…that was about how many clicks of the camera to take her picture. This gilt exudes CORRECTNESS! It hard to find a flaw in this one. She is a bit more elevated, which we think is a good direction to go after seeing a trend of making low riders. This gilt immediately grabs your attention as being tall-fronted and she carries her cocky head a notch above her contemporaries. She has a wide, level top with plenty of power. She is built square on top and underneath. She has a lot of bone and correct structure with tremendous mobility and flexibility. This gilt is our dad’s favorite. It’s hard to make them this good, this complete, and this flawless. We believe she has a bright future–in the ring and in the herd.

MASSIVE TOP * WIDE BASE * POWER

In our previous online sale, a littermate sister -6 was the popular gilt that sold for $1300. We received several calls asking if we had another gilt like her, and HERE SHE IS!!! Miss Magic 2-5 is one POWERFUL GILT…she looks like a barrow with a vulva. She has a freaky extended head and neck. Study her base width–she is really opened up, explodes out of her blades into wide cage, massive top and hip. She is stout boned and motors freely. This girl is so powerful you feel the ground shake when she comes at you. If you like powerful and stout females, this one is for you. She is one of seven gilts and we are putting them all up for your choosing. Our customers have said that this is one of the most consistent litters they have ever seen. Buy ’em the way you like ’em…we don’t think you would go wrong with any one of these litter 2 gilts.

EXTENDED NECK * CLEAN TOP * FEMININE POWER

Miss Magic 2-7 is really good in her own right. We see Miss Magic 2-7 as the BREEDING GILT of the litter. She has a feminine look and design with her clean extended head and neck. She is square built with base width. She is tall-fronted, clean in her lines, deep bodied with plenty of muscle. She looks good at all angles and excels in her CORRECTNESS. She is excellent on her feet and legs and powers off all four with authority. We read her a bit later in her maturity than her sisters and its hard to find a flaw in this gilt. She has a lot of good to offer and a bright future. If you are looking to start with a complete and correct female to build a solid Berkshire program, this one is for you.

COOL HEADED * HUGE RIB * CLEAN DESIGN & STRUCTURE

People like stories and Miss Magic 4-2 has one. We bought her mother at the 2014 NBS from Sandall Show Pigs, which was out of the litter of the $10,250 bred gilt from Lairds. We didn’t have a Shotgun Wedding sow in our herd, so we purchased the mom of 4-2 and we are sure GLAD WE DID!!! We used our herd boar, Butch Cassidy, a Wanted x Gary Coleman son from Armstrong Genetics and he hooked up here. This gilt is a COMBINATION GILT with her cool design, stoutness and power. She grabs your attention with a exotic looking head and neck. She is wide based, has a huge cage and wide back. We love her level hip and correctly designed feet and legs. The power and stoutness of this young gilt (pictured at 7 weeks) turns our crank. This is one cool looking gilt, and that’s what we would expect when you combine Butch Cassidy and Shotgun Wedding.

TALL & CLEAN FRONTED * HUGE RIB * LEVEL TOP

Last year we leased out a crossbred gilt that Kedron was going to show at our county fair. The compromise was that she could show a Hereford gilt, so we purchased the dam of Browny 5-1 from Chris Lanham. She did well, and Kedron had a lot of fun showing the Reserve Hereford Gilt at the 2014 White County Fair (IN). Browny 5-1 has a lot of great traits and she holds her own in a pen of powerful Berks. We read her a a COMBINATION FEMALE with power and stoutness and a feminine look. She has a huge cage with a wide level top and deep body. She is tall-fronted with an extended head and neck that gives her a feminine look. She also has a great appetite and will be one powerful breeding female at 300 lbs.

ELITE DESIGN * POWER * EXCELLENT STRUCTURE

It’s hard to make gilts look this good in any breed, and YES she is a Hereford. Ready to Rumble is definitely a fitting description for this gilt. Browny 5-2 is an ELITE DESIGNED GILT that is stout, powerful, and correct. She has so many positives…big rib, big backed, tall-fronted, level top, deep body, level hip, and soundness. In case you are wondering, both ears break over in the middle. This gilt is one you can launch your Hereford program and build Herefords that will compete. We would love to keep her in our herd, but Grant will be going to Purdue this Fall, and Nelson will likely follow in 2016. They are trying to figure out the “right size” for Kedron to manage. They are still debating what to keep and what to let go…Grant and Nelson hope Kedron doesn’t get too upset for selling this Hereford gilt. They are young and willing to let others take advantage of their hard work.

EXCELLENT HIP * SQUARE BUILD * BALANCE

If this barrow doesn’t light your fire, then your wood is wet. Neon Cowboy 1-2 hits us pretty hard as a COMPLETE & BALANCED BARROW. He is moderate framed barrow that is built square with a clean head and neck. He is tall fronted with a level top and a level hip. This boy drives and track correctly with an excellent set of hind wheels and big toes. This Neon Cowboy barrow could really light things up, if you know what we mean. MASSIVE & POWERFUL * SQUARE HIP * HIGH HEAD CARRIAGE

This little rascal is AMAZING! That’s why he is still intact (but we can cut him, if you wish). He was pictured at 7 weeks and it’s impressive to see this much POWER PACKED into a boar. We read him as a moderate framed boar with massive blade, wide open rib cage, big level top, and a square level hip. This guy powers at you with a jacked up pencil head and leaves you driving with tons of power and a jacked up tail head. We like this boar a whole bunch, and his pedigree has a few boars you might know such as Wanted, Gary Coleman, Shotgun Wedding, Superman, and All You Want.

HEAVY BONE * BIG HIP * SQUARE BUILT

This is one COOL-DESIGNED & POWERFUL BARROW. Study his feet placement. Look at how wide he stands on his front pipes. He carries this thickness through his cage, blades, and loins. We appreciate his level top, deep body, and powerful level hip, and we really like his thick stifle. He is heavy boned and so correct in his structure. Excellent hip, hock set and hind legs. This boy profiles extremely well, and he motors with authority. We believe this guy can play. Look in and look no further for a barrow that can feed and play.

TALL-FRONTED * WIDE CHESTED * BIG RIB

What does this gilt and a duck have in common? Water rolls off their back! This gilt has excellent STYLE for a discerning showman and judge. She is jerk necked, TALL-FRONTED, wide-based, wide topped, massive blade and rib with a level hip. She is a rib shorter than her littermates, and the WIDEST-BASED compared to -1 and -4 gilts. This gilt has the show-ring appeal and a look that keeps you tracking her as she STRUTS across the chips. One we read as a combination gilt that will get attention in 2015. She has a cool look and design of her mother and the power and width of her father.

POWER * BONE * CORRECTNESS

She’s got BONE and know how to use it! It didn’t take long picture this gilt. Yes! SHE IS THAT GOOD! This is the gilt that would be ready to hit the jackpot circuit and look good to the finish line. She carries herself with power, STOUTNESS, and correctly designed feet and legs. This was one deep litter of cool-designed and correctly made females. Wheels Up was the popular boar we showed at the 2014 WPX. He did a tremendous job on this new Walter sow (3/4 sib to King Indy) who had four littermate brothers that did well last summer, including 1st in class at the 2014 White County Fair (IN) and 2nd in Class to Champion Berkshire Boar at 2014 Iowa State Fair.

ATTRACTIVE PROFILE * BALANCED * WIDE CHESTED

Grant’s FAVORITE GILT! This elite gilt is tremendous. She was pictured at 7 weeks, and she truly impressed us in the picture pen. There is no bad angle of this gilt. She is pencil-headed with a high head carriage. She is freaky BLOWN APART on her front two pipes. She is tall-fronted with a level jet top. Perfect feet and toes. She is square on all four with tremendous stride length and flexibility. This is one of the most IMPRESSIVE and correctly designed gilts we have made. She is very high on our list! We retained ownership of Wheels Up because we felt he could generate correctly designed females. We lined up Wheels Up with a Walter daughter (3/4 sib to King Indy) and this combination really worked! This gilt is SUPER GOOD!

POWERFUL * STOUTNESS * WIDE BASED

This boy is wide as a HUMMER coming at you. He reminds us a lot like his daddy. Massive top, massive center body, and clean fronted. Look at his levelness and length of hips. This barrow is going to be noticed in the show ring. He carries this much POWER and mass with EASE and flexibility. He likes to eat and he will be a lot of fun to feed. We feel confident that Neon Cowboy is going to light ’em up this summer. His mom is out of the dam that sired the 2014 Hog College Boar.

POWER * CENTER BODY * WIDE TOP

First pick littermate gilt to Crusader! We went over to visit Travis Perry to look at his Berks. Travis shared with us that Litter 25 is “the best Berkshire litter he has raised.” This is quite a statement for a guy who raised Walk The Dog and Different Strokes. Elmer 25-11 stood out as the obvious “best gilt” of the litter. Grant and Nelson dug deep into their pockets and grabbed onto this foundation female and took her home.

Elmer 25-11 is one amazing female and she added a new genetic package to our herd. She explodes out of her blade into a square wide top and a heavy muscled hip. We appreciate her rib and center body. She has base width, bone, and motors well off all four. You can compare pictures and she looks a lot like Crusader. This sow is a generator–her pedigree is loaded with genetic giants (Superman, Walk The Dog, Legend, Time Bandit, All You Want). She is LOADED phenotypically and genotypically.

In her two litters (11 born & 7 born), she generated a high selling gilt that went to South Dakota as a foundation female, and she generated the 10th overall Berkshire Weanling Barrow at the 2014 Fall Classic in Duncan, OK. She puts a lot of muscle and dimension in her pigs, much like her littermate brother Crusader (who was at Shipley’s).

ATTRACTIVE PROFILE * CORRECTNESS * LONG STRIDE

Miss Magic 4-7 was our pick out of 7 gilts. She is a stout and powerful female with a clean head and neck that transitions smoothly into her massive blade, top and hip. She has big rib and is wide on her base. She has excellent feet and legs, bone, and has a long stride. She is a bit more extended than her sister 4-5 with as much stoutness and power. Thanks to Beau Middleton who fed and showed 4-7. We learned that she had a lot of friends at the 2013 Illinois State Fair. MQ

Miss Magic 19-1 was a standout gilt of the Spring, 2014 litters, and she continues to grab our attention when we look in her pen with her contemporaries. She has POWER. This girl is opened up in her blade and rib with a level topline. She carries width through her rib cage, top, and belly. She is heavy muscled with big hams. She is one stout and powerful girl with a frame size that will generate powerful barrows or well-designed gilts. Look at her BONE. She is heavy structured on a square base with good feet and legs. CORRECTNESS. She powers off her hind wheels with authority and flexibility. She was the powerhouse of the litter and she even pushed her brothers around when she was young. Her brothers were Champion Berkshire Barrow and Champion Berkshire Barrow Pair at the 2014 Warren County Fair (IN).  She is out of our foundation female — Dam of King Indy, and Cobra (Hostile Takeover x Gary Coleman) was 3rd in Class at the 2013 Indiana State Fair. Hostile Takeover received the 1st Overall PORQUE Award for meat quality in the 2013 Progeny Test. This one is special, and we see a bright future for this female.

Elmer 9-4 has a fun personality and she loves attention. She literally ran 100 feet to get her picture taken in freezing weather. She is a lot like her mother (Crusader’s littermate Elmer 25-11). She has a wide top, big rib, and deep center body. This girl combines the POWER and STOUTNESS of Superman, and correctness and heaviness of STRUCTURE from Walter. All said, she is one massive female who can move really well. Let’s be clear…this gilt is one of the biggest topped, biggest ribbed, and biggest centered gilt we have generated! We debated if we should keep her here, but we agreed we would put up some of our best keeper quality females. We really like this pedigree with the combination of power, structure, and meat quality genetics. Walter is in the top 10 of all Berkshire boars tested for Minolta (redness color of meat, which means it will be juicy). We feel this girl has tremendous value and we will keep her in our herd if she does not find a new home.

POWER * HEAVY BONE * WIDE TOP

Miss Magic 2-1 is one of the heaviest boned, heaviest muscled, thickest-made female we own. Bred for consistency–she is a line-bred daughter of King Indy back on his mom (4th parity). She is likely the best gilt we’ve raised to date. We were looking for a possible replacement for King Indy’s mom, and 2-1 is the closest gilt we have found so far. She profiles extremely well in one stout barrow-making package with “the show ring look.” She was a bit later in her development, but she really looked great at 300 lbs.

LEVEL TOP * HEAVY BONE * CORRECT FEET & LEGS

Betty 3-10 has a uniquely designed hip and hind leg. Jeremy Lipps asked, “What are you doing with her?” We replied, “Keeping her.” He said, “I can see why.” She is so free and flexible in her walk, and she is heavy boned. She has a clean feminine head and neck. She has a big hip, big level top, and big rib. Walter worked so well on this Torge sow. Excellent maternal line, excellent structure, excellent muscle design! This kind is hard to make. MQ

Betty 3-10 had a lot of friends in Des Moines. She was the 2nd Highest Selling Gilt ($1,700) and 2nd in Class 3 Berkshire Gilts at 2013 Iowa State Fair. Al Christian shared, “I really liked your gilt. I thought she was the best gilt in the show.” Wow, what a compliment from “The Legend!”

ATTRACTIVE PROFILE * BALANCE * CORRECT HIP

We studied this girl in Duncan (OK) at the 2013 Fall Classic. It didn’t take long to appreciate her clean and attractive profile. She has dark black skin and hair color with excellent breed markings. This stylish Berkshire gilt balances extremely well. She has a cool-looking chisel neck with a high head carriage. She carries width from her chest floor through her wide rib, center body, and top. She has a a correctly designed hip. We appreciate her heavy bone and structure. This girl is sired by two big time boars from the Southwest that need no introduction. Thanks to Bert Byrd for letting her find a new home in Indiana.

Miss Magic 11-2 is one classy designed gilts. Seriously, she should be in our keeper pen, but it is full and so we give others the opportunity to enjoy these phenotypically desirable, maternally productive, and meat quality genetics. She is wide-based and heavy structured. Huge forearm with explosive blades. She is true level topped and exhibits the power of a barrow as a correctly designed gilt. We are thrilled to put gilts of this quality in the hands of young people that would like to get started in the Berkshire breed. This gilt is loaded with meat quality in her pedigree (Walter – 4th PORQUE Award & Hostile Takeover – 1st PORQUE Award in 2013). This type of triple combination gilt is rare to find (Powerful Phenotype x Maternal Productivity x Meat Quality).

ATTRACTIVE PROFILE * HEAVY MUSCLE * WIDE BASED

The grand dam of this gilt was our foundation female from Iowa State University. She was an extremely productive sow, but she had her 6th litter and told us she was finished. We thought this sow line came to an end on our farm. However, the dam of Belle W 23-1 (Hostile Takeover x Fast Lane) generated a cool-designed gilt here. We took this gilt to the Fall Classic, and she placed 10th overall among the Berkshire gilts. We decided to bring her back home and keep her in our herd. She is wide-based with a cool extended head and neck. She has plenty of power and we read her to be a combination gilt who will generate barrows and gilts. She is stacked deep with a meat quality pedigree (Walter – #4 in 2013 x Hostile Takeover – #1 in 2013 x Fast Lane – #4 in 2010), which makes this extra exciting!

BOLD and BOSSY! Here she is. The super STOUT gilt of this offering. Extremely BOLD in her forearm and blade and she is heavy muscled. This gilt is FREAKY CLEAN fronted which shows off her wide chest. She is a full sib to a gilt that Nelson showed this summer who placed 2nd to the Champion Berk Gilt at Iowa State Fair. This gilt got a lot of compliments but what excited us more was that she scanned a 11.0 LEA! The mother of 16-7 is a littermate to King Indy at Shipleys, who was the Champion Berk Boar at the 2012 Indiana State Fair. A full sib to 16-7 was shown on the IJSC circuit this past summer. He was Champion Berk Barrow 5 of the 6 times that he was shown. 16-7 is a gilt you can drive hard and then breed hard. We have confidence in these genetics. They generate!

Wait! Stop that gilt! How did she get in the picture pen? Well, she’s right out of the KEEPER pen! Miss Magic 20-2 is one of the most IMPRESSIVE gilts out of our Fall 2014 litters. She has moderate length of body but is not moderate in muscle and power. She is opened up and carries MASSIVE rib and center body to and through her massive blade, loin and hip. We love how upheaded and TALL FRONTED she is and then blows you away with a wide level top. She is so correctly designed and is out of one of our most productive foundation sows (Gary Coleman x King Indy’s dam). Her dam generated the popular class winning gilt at the 2013 STC, and 2nd in Class (to Champion) gilt at the 2013 Illinois State Fair. Young and attractive! We debated if this gilt was ready to go up as she was only 7 weeks old when she was pictured. It didn’t take us long to decide. This is so impressive in her design. This COOL designed female is upheaded, tall fronted, with JET LEVEL TOP. She catches your eye with an extremely attractive profile. She has a SQUARE HIP and motors well on all four. We know that sows play an extremely important role in generating the next best set of pigs. The dam of 22-2 is a littermate to Crusader (who was at Shipley’s, but is now deceased). Crusader pigs have done extremely well and combined with the new So Fly stud at Lairds, well, this gilt could be magic. We find this pedigree extremely intriguing for a breeder who wants to try something with a different look. Underline: 7-6

We are really high on this COOL DESIGN gilt. She grabs your attention coming at you being tall fronted with her pencil head jacked high. Then you see her opened up underneath and you think, Wow! She’s as wide as a Hummer! She carries true thickness up high to the top of her loin and from blade to hip. Rib and belly add to her massive center body. We like how she combines massive power with her feminine look. She is correct and has a great set of toes that point forward. This girl is definitely dual purpose for the show ring and farrowing room. Speaking of her dam (King Indy’s littermate), she produced our highest selling litter this Spring, which included one of our new favorite gilts who was Reserve Champion at the 2014 White County Fair and 2nd in Class at the 2014 Iowa State Fair. Big and boxy! It doesn’t take too long and you can see this girl has a bright future ahead of her. She profiles extremely well and we like her crisp SQUARE loin and POWERFUL hip. She is a complete gilt that will continue to get better as she matures. Walter pigs are steady plodders and they bloom as they mature. This gilt is heavy boned and DEEP sided with a bit more frame to make an excellent sow. She is a full sib to King Indy, the great female sire at Shipley’s. This is our 1st repeat mating of Walter x Walk The Dog (full sib to What Else). We have the only full sister to King Indy, but you could own the next one with a few clicks. Are you looking for a Berk gilt that can compete in the ring and for a top place in your farrowing house? Look no further than 16-2. This gilt is out of a litter of 11 and her mom milks like a Holstein cow. Balance best describes 16-2. She has a clean top which ties in so well with her hip and stifle. We love how she combines rib, mass, and a long extended head and neck. This is a repeat mating of a high-selling litter that we had this Spring. There was a barrow that was shown 6 times on the IJSC jackpot series and was champion 5 times. We also retained a gilt that was Reserve Champion at White County Fair and 2nd in class to the Champion Berk Gilt at the 2014 Iowa State Fair. We think is contending for the best on sow lot right now. Mother is a littermate to King Indy the champion boar at Indiana State fair in 2012 who stands at Shipleys.

Miss Magic 6-3 is the kind of females we strive to generate. She has an attractive profile with a long extended neck. She is a deep bodied and larger capacity female and we love how she combines her feminine look with a powerful top and hip. We appreciate her heavy bone and correct feet and legs. She motors all day with a loose-spine and extra flexibility. This girl has generating power in her pedigree. She is a Walter on one of our foundation females. She may not be as show ready today, but she has tremendous potential to be a foundation female for someone who wants to have fun with Berks.

MEAT QUALITY * MATERNAL * SOUNDNESS

Here’s a unique opportunity to invest in a foundation female that is an attractive breeding gilt with a stacked meat quality pedigree. She is out of our last litter from our foundation female (Belle 3-2) we purchased from Iowa State University in 2010. Her mother was one of our most productive sows and our premium pork customers raved about the meat quality of her pigs. Here’s a foundation female who can generate attractive pigs with excellent meat quality!

Belle HT 15-3 is the breeding gilt out the last litter of our foundation female we purchased from Iowa State University (Belle 3-2). She is a bigger outlined gilt with an attractive profile, deep body and plenty of muscle. She has excellent feet and legs and she motors with flexibility and ease. She could be a dual-purpose Berkshire to produce meat quality pigs for the niche market as well as producing show pigs for county fairs. This investment will see an easy return with the valuable gilts out of this litter. She was bred to our herd boar Walter for an August 7, 2014 litter. Walter received 4th PORQUE Meat Quality Award in 2013 and he adds bone, elevation, and excellent flexibility to the hind legs. This Walter litter would have attractive phenotype with an outstanding meat quality pedigree. In fact you can’t make a combination meat quality female much better than this genetic package! The Walter x Hostile Takeover x Fast Lane gilts out of this litter would be valuable for making breeding stock for the meat quality market.

Miss Magic 10-1 is a stylish and attractive Berkshire gilt. She is the more feminine gilt of this pair. We appreciate her attractive profile with her small head and clean neck. She is wide-chested, tall-fronted, level topped with a square hipped and high tail set. She is true and square on her front legs and turns out slightly on her back left leg. She is flexible and motors extremely well on all four. Although she is not extreme, she keeps getting better every day and brings together a dual-purpose package with her meat-quality pedigree in an attractive phenotype. Her dam is a littermate to the popular class winning gilt at the 2013 STC and another gilt that was 2nd in class to the Champion Berk at the 2013 Illinois State Fair. Hostile Takeover was 1st and Walter was 4th in the PORQUE meat quality test in 2013. Look in her. This gilt would be an easy entry point into raising competitive, meat quality Berks.

Miss Magic 10-2 is a stout and powerful Berkshire gilt. She blows you away with her sheer muscle, bone, and base width. This girl immediately hits you hard as you see her motor freely on her wide chassis. She has excellent structure, feet and legs. She carries a huge massive body with free movement and flexibility. We love how these pigs have a smaller head at the end of an extended neck, which contrasts with an explosive chest, blade and rib. We don’t like to make predictions, but this gilt is going to be noticed in a show ring, gestation pen, or farrowing crate. If you like them powerful and stout and some of the best tasting pork on a dinner plate, Miss Magic 10-2 can make you a proud and satisfied Berkshire owner.

Walter 10-3 is one of the final candidates as the Best Berkshire Barrow we have raised (and this doesn’t take away from some really cool-looking Berk barrows we sold in 2014). Let’s just say that he an easy pick in the litter. You’ll find him within a 2 second glance at the pen. He is built correct on a wide base, yet motors freely on his heavy boned legs. His freaky front and massive power puts in in a category of his own. It hard not to like this guy. He puts together a barrow look like no other, and he can compete in a crossbred class. Last year, the GNK team set a goal to make some powerful Berkshire barrows–10-3 is clear evidence that they have accomplished their goal. This guy is the #1 reason why we are having this sale, and we are hoping someone can have some fun with him at the National Barrow Show or some show in September or October. This guy is one tough barrow!

TALL-FRONTED * HUGE RIB * CORRECT LEGS

They say, “what goes around, comes around,” and we are glad to bring a King Indy daughter back to her sire’s birthplace. Cleo 37-1 is one stout female that reads barrow-maker. We purchased her on Platt & Michel’s online bred gilt sale on 12/9/13. King Indy gave her excellent set of heavy-boned feet and legs. Her hind legs have correct angles, and designed just like we like them. She is tall-fronted, explodes out of her blade and has huge rib and top. She opens up with good width coming and is flexible on the move with a great amount of center capacity. She has a great maternal disposition, which is an added bonus. We are excited about the power she has in her pedigree–King Indy and Venom’s littermate sister. Dam is littermate to Venom ($46,000 Mauck boar at LVS)

We appreciate how much power, center body, and overall mass she has, yet feminine in her extension, flexibility and correctness of structure. There is no question this is one valuable Walter daughter. Walter 9-7 is a stylish and balanced barrow. We appreciate his cool design with a clean head and neck and explosive blade as he comes at you. Opened-up and square on his four corners. He has plenty of bone to balance with his overall mass, and he has excellent feet and legs to motor all day. He has extra center body and rib shape with lots of muscle shape. He is impressive when you get on top of him and see how much product he puts together in a balanced way. He is moderate in length of body, but in no way does he compromise power and stoutness. He is a later developing barrow in comparison to his littermates, but he is definitely on track and gaining very well to make a stout and powerful state fair barrow. Speaking of which, there’s power in his pedigree. Walter sired King Indy and his mom is a littermate to Crusader (also at Shipleys). We predict this guy is going to be one tough barrow on show day.

This is what you would expect when you put Walter on a Superman daughter. Speaking of which, the gilt’s dam is a littermate to Crusader at Shipleys. He is square on all four and is opened-up from chest to flank. He is heavy boned and excellent on his feet and legs. He motors with ease. This guy has a cool killer barrow look. No matter how you look at this guy, he’s going to be hard to miss on show day. A great combination of Walter (sire of King Indy) on littermate sow to Crusader (also at Shipleys). We appreciate her heavy structure and she can motor around freely with lots of flexibility. Although she was not bloomy when we pictured her, she has a frame size that will carry plenty of product and be one eye-catching female. We read this deep bodied gilt to be an excellent breeding gilt prospect. Her mother has impeccable structure and is a valuable Walter sow. She was 2nd in class and the 2nd highest selling gilt at the 2013 Iowa State Fair. One of the greatest compliments we received was from Al Christiansen, “I really like your gilt” as he watched Betty 3-10 (the dam of 4-3) float across the ring. This girl has added value because she comes from an excellent maternal line and excellent MEAT QUALITY genetics in her pedigree. Hostile Takeover (Cobra’s sire) was 1st and Walter was 4th in the 2013 PORQUE Progeny Test for Meat Quality. Underline: Perfect 7-8!

He’s has the frame size to carry a lot of product when he matures at 280 lbs. We appreciate how this guy comes at you with an extended chiseled neck with a wide chest floor and is square out of his bladed to the ground. We acknowledge that he is not bloomed up today, but we have confidence that he will feed really well and be one tough barrow when he in in the final stretch. He has a clean extended head and neck, and he blows apart with his wide-spread blades. He has a wide rib cage and huge center body. The amount of mass this barrow has when you get on top of him truly gets you excited about how powerful he will be when he hits the show ring. We appreciate his heavy structure, and how freely he moves on his correctly designed legs. He has an impressive look from all angles, and he continues to put together muscle shape and power. He comes out of one of our new exciting sows who is a line-bred King Indy on King Indy’s mom. Miss Magic 5-3 is a COMPLETE and CORRECT gilt. It’s hard to fault this gilt in any area and she puts together all the pieces into one STYLISH and attractive package. She is a bit more extended in her profile beginning with her clean, feminine head and neck. She is extremely correct on her feet and legs. Her angles are correct and she motors freely with FLEXIBILITY in her stride. She has an eye-catching profile with a level top-line and plenty of center body to balance with her frame size. Miss Magic 5-3 is the breeding gilt of the litter. Fault-free and correct! She is a daughter of King Indy’s littermate, which goes back to our foundation sow and herd boar (Walter). The genetics have generated power and correctness, and have been proven productive sows. We expect Miss Magic 5-3 to be no different. We appreciate her squareness and structure. She is heavy boned and balances up with her frame size, muscle pattern, and stoutness. Miss Magic 6-2 is a very close mating to King Indy. We took Walter to a Gary Coleman daughter (who raised the Class Winner at the 2013 STC and was purchased by Ryan Harrell for $1,150) of our foundation sow (King Indy’s dam) and Ding! Ding! Ding! This mating worked! To say this mating worked is an understatement. We are feeding three intact brothers. Why? This gilt has bone, big feet with perfect toes. Excellent on STRUCTURE and one COMPLETE gilt. Her mother was 2nd in class and the 2nd highest selling gilt at the 2013 Iowa State Fair. This girl has added value because she comes from an excellent maternal line and excellent MEAT QUALITY genetics in her pedigree. Hostile Takeover (Cobra’s sire) was 1st and Walter was 4th in the 2013 Progeny Test for Meat Quality. Underline: Perfect 7-7!

Ms Penny 1-4 is a heavy boned, stout gilt with DIMENSION and power that reads as an excellent BREEDING FEMALE. She is a larger framed gilt with a tick more extension, and she carries it well with her power, STOUTNESS, and capacity. She plants and drives off all four wheels with authority. This girl continues to get better every day as she grows and packs on the muscle. She is missing half of her right ear. It was the 2014 winter storm to remember. She was born during the frigid polar vortex in early January, and she got kissed by the heat lamp and lost half of her right ear (which doesn’t affect her hearing). She is out of our new female line from the heart of Russell Kneese’s foundation line (Mount-N-Do x Who Knows What), who had 13 pigs in her first litter. We took her to King Indy to add bone, rib and structure, which worked very well. Underline: 6-7

Wanted 5-5 is the POWER barrow of the litter. He was a boar prospect, but the GNK team decided they would offer some powerful barrows that would be able to play. Barrow 5-5 is THAT barrow! He is one of the HEAVIEST BONED Berks we have raised. He explodes out of his blade with a MASSIVE top, center body and hip. He comes at you with a freaky anvil head and chiseled neck. He is WIDE BASED and drives off his legs with power and authority. He can WALK ALL DAY, and he puts together a stout and powerful barrow package that tells us, you are doing the right things. We put Wanted on King Indy’s littermate sister and here’s the result. This guy is cool, cool, cool! We are absolutely excited about the stage this guy can play on this summer.

Wanted 5-6 is a really COOL-DESIGNED barrow. He has the BIGGEST BLADE of the barrows we are offering this season. His contemporaries have big blades, but this guy has MASSIVE blades. Contrast his busted opened blades with his anvil head and chisel neck, and this guy grabs your attention coming at you. He LOVES TO DRIVE on his excellent feet and legs. He tracks extremely well and can walk all day. His stoutness and power commands your attention. His big hams and wide top in a moderate frame size says this guy is going to be a handful in the show ring. The Wanted x Walter (King Indy’s littermate) mating worked extremely well, and we are excited about the family who gets to feed and show this barrow. We started this auction with our best gilt, and we finish the auction with a really, really good barrow or should we say brothers.

Ms Penny 1-2 is an extremely STYLISH and BALANCED gilt. This girl immediately catches your eye by how freely she motors with her SLEEK DESIGN of power and stoutness. She is wide based and stands square on her corners. She has big feet, IMPECCABLE LEGS, and correct angles in her hock and hind leg set. She has an ATTRACTIVE clean head and neck with a high head carriage. She is tall-fronted, jet level, and has wide rib and center body. She’s a young gilt, but her development pattern reads muscle, balance, and structure in a COMPLETE PACKAGE. She has a 6-6 underline. Russell Kneese doesn’t sell many gilts, but we are extremely happy with the dam of 1-2. We felt like we reached right into the heart of Russell’s foundation line and picked a true breeding female (she had 13 pigs in her 1st litter). We chuckle when we read descriptions that predict every pig is going to be a BIG TIME WINNER. We choose these statements carefully so they mean something when we say – This One is Truly Special! PAY. ATTENTION. HERE. Pictured at 42 lbs on 2/24/14 (7 weeks)

Ms Penny 1-3 is the POWER gilt of the litter. She is a larger package than her sister 1-2 with a tick more muscle, bone, thickness, and length of body. Plus, she has many of the same attractive features as her sister–clean neck, tall-fronted, level-top, heavy bone, and huge hams. She is a large capacity gilt that will dominate the ring with WIDTH, THICKNESS and STOUTNESS. Her mother comes from a deep winning genetic line from Russell Kneese. We used King Indy to add rib, center body, and bone. We are extremely happy with this mating. This gilt has a 6-6 underline (with an additional pin on left side). Like a good billboard, this girl gets your attention. Pictured at 44 lbs on 2/24/14 (7 weeks)

This 1-6 barrow is designed correctly to be a competitive show barrow with a combination of STYLE and POWER. He has a big center capacity from his wide-spread BLADES to his wide top and BIG BELLY to his square hip. Like a Tennessee Walking horse, we appreciate how this barrow is up on his STYLE–a chisel shaped head and neck with a high head carriage, tall-fronted, and high tail set. He is stout boned and has good structure and base width. This barrow is designed a lot like his sister 1-2 with the center mass of his sister 1-3. It will be fun to see him shown this summer. We love the look of King Indy 1-7. He is a clean-fronted, wide-base, level topped boar (currently intact, but would be glad to cut him if requested). He has COOL-DESIGNED muscle shape with is wide crisp loin edge, square rump, and high tail set. His blades are OPENED-UP and his forearms are set wide and true to the ground. He has a BIG CENTER body, good structure, and moves freely with lots of FLEXIBILITY on his feet and legs. This King Indy x Mount-N-Do mating represents a new look of two successful sire lines–Time Bandit and Who Knows What. Pictured at 43 lbs on 2/24/14 (7 weeks)

We’ve heard 2-6 described as a TRUCK or a TANK. No matter what you call him, he’s one STOUT and POWERFUL barrow!! This is one of the widest based (yet within his skeleton), heaviest bone, thickest made barrows we have generated. Can he keep it all together? We think he will because he is extremely correct on his feet and legs, and motors with lots of flexibility. He is loose-spined, tall-fronted, and level-topped. He reads as BIG, BOLD, and BOSSY, and is going be be one competitive barrow as we read his maturity and growth pattern. He is impressively packing muscle onto a heavy structured frame. WATCH. OUT. FOR. THIS. ONE. Pictured at 41 lbs on 2/24/14 (7 weeks)

This 2-9 barrow is extremely agile and motors around the pen with FLEXIBILITY and ease. He plants his feet on the chips and drives of his hind wheels with POWER and AUTHORITY. He is stout boned, level-topped, and thick from his open-blades to his blooming butt. This guy is young, and he’s about a week behind after getting off to a challenging start due to a difficult farrowing. The King Indy and Venom (plus Torge and Sugar Daddy) blood in his veins should make him one powerful and mobile barrows when he hits 280 lbs. Look no further if you like stout, powerful barrows that can WALK ALL DAY. Pictured at 33 lbs on 2/24/14 (7 weeks)

Miss Magic 19-2 is the power gilt of the litter. We love how she grabs your attention with her WIDTH and STOUTNESS. Excellent base width and big bone. Stout forearms turn out of her big blades and are true to the ground. Like her daddy, she is cobra-fronted with freaky chisel neck and high head carriage. This POWERFUL gilt has above moderate frame size that will be hard to beat at 300 lbs. She is a daughter of King Indy’s dam–our foundation female that has been an excellent mother. We believe this girl will be a lot of fun to show as a jackpot gilt and at the WPX. However, her greatest value will be generating the next generation of show berks. Underline is 6-7 (with additional pin on right side)

Miss Magic 19-3 is the STYLISH and BALANCED gilt of the litter. She hits you hard with her sleek design as she floats around the pen. She is TALL-FRONTED and JET LEVEL. We appreciate her deep body capacity yet truly FEMININE in her design and makeup. This girl has excellent feet and legs. She moves freely and has an impressive STRIDE length. This gilt will definitely be fun to show, but her greatest value is the genetic power from our foundation female (King Indy’s dam). Underline is 7-7 (with additional pin on the left side).
